Civics for All of US is the national civic education initiative from the National Archives that promotes civic literacy and engagement. As part of this initiative, the education team at the Nixon Presidential Library and educators across the National Archives will be providing teachers with programming, curricula, and exceptional field trip experiences both online and in-person. Student Programs
Civics for All of US is the national civic education initiative from the National Archives. Our interactive distance learning programs for students and teachers draw upon the vast holdings of the National Archives to promote the knowledge and skills students need for civic engagement in the 21st century. Each program is led by one of our educators located at National Archives sites, the Center for Legislative Archives, and Presidential Libraries across the country. Civics for All of US distance learning programs are offered as regularly scheduled interactive webinars. Registration is required, but there is no minimum attendance prerequisite for student webinars. Join us for an upcoming program!

We Hold These Truths (Grades 9–12)

Make Your Voice Count: Learning About The First Amendment (Grades K–2)

Voting Rights, the Constitution, and Representative Government (Grades 6–8)
Using the Constitution, constitutional amendments, and legislation, students will explore the progression of voting rights in the United States and its impact on representative government. The Constitution and Our Community (Grades 6-8)
Students will learn about the Declaration of Independence, its important sections, and some of the American ideals it contains. Teacher Workshops
2025 Civics for All of US Teacher Institutes with the National Archives in Washington, DC
Educators working with grades 3–12 are invited to apply to attend a Civics for All of US Teacher Institute with the National Archives taking place in Washington, DC. The institute will be offered twice, July 14–July 17 and July 29–August 1. With a main focus on the Declaration of Independence, this multi-day program will include hands-on sessions featuring strategies for teaching civics with primary sources. The institute will also comprise of special tours and activities in the National Archives, guest speakers, and site visits to additional landmarks and museums in the nation’s capital. Teachers will leave the institute with a deeper understanding of how to prepare students for civic life with resources from the National Archives. Learn more here and apply by 3/31/25.

Our virtual Civics for All of US Teacher workshops are available by request for groups of 10 or more educators. Programs are free and available Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Please submit your request at least one month in advance of your desired date. Evening and weekend programs may be available on occasion.
