FG 377 contains materials pertaining to the Federal Energy Administration (FEA), which was established by the Federal Energy Administration Act of 1974 (88 Stat. 96), effective June 28, 1974. It assumed the functions of the Federal Energy Office which was abolished by Executive Order 11790 of June 25, 1974. The FEA's responsibilities included regulation of fuel allocation and petroleum prices, collection of energy data, and energy planning with particular emphasis on energy conservation and expansion of supplies.
